Jesus Can Work It Out!

Never Give Up, Never Surrender!

Many amazing blessings have come forth for me the last few days, so I’ve been pretty busy :P! But I thought I’d drop in to encourage you that through anything, Jesus can work it out! Part two of my Hawaii adventure will pop up later this week~

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. -Hebrews 10:36

And for the hip hop folks 😉 :

Song on Repeat: When I am Afraid – Laura Hackett

I’ve had to make quite a few decisions in my life lately, some small and some bit large. These decisions have actually given me inspiration to write the posts I have been writing. But through it all, even though I was seeking God constantly, I didn’t have peace over the situations. So I made sure I told Him so, and asked that He surround me in his Peace. At the same time I was randomly searching on Youtube and found this awesome song that I have not been able to turn off.

The words are amazing and beautiful and exactly what I needed. God always provides–and reminds us of the Truth in His Word! I was still responding to my own wayside emotions about the situations instead of remembering, as I absolutely love how Nicole L Jackson put it, “[God] is our Rock…and our Lactaid!!” Haha! Love it! You have to read the post here to understand the Lactaid part….

But anyway, as I mentioned in another post, it’s important to pay attention to what you speak to yourself. Because “…what you say flows from what is in your heart (Luke 6:48).” And in this instance I was telling myself to rely on my own reasoning without even realizing it. Scary! So now I am determined to replace that thinking and allow the Truth to reverberate through my mind, and understand that no matter when I am afraid, I will trust in Him (Psalm 56:3) and that the fight is not mine, but the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15), so I lay it all down at His feet.

Something to Chew On: The Road Less Traveled…

Image

“If God leads you to walk a way that you know, it will not benefit you as much as if He would lead you to take the way that you do not know. This forces you to have hundreds and thousands of conversations with Him, resulting in a journey that is an everlasting memorial between you and Him.
Your Leader will lead you to take an untrodden way, to go down a path you never dreamed of. He is afraid of nothing, and He wishes you to be afraid of nothing, also He is with you. In desperate situations it is His joy to see His children grasping His hands.”

-Watchman Nee

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

A Lactaid Faith

Oh the killjoy of lactose intolerance.

I love dairy products, but it does not love me. At all. In fact, whenever I try to “buddy up” to my favorite homemade cheese quesadillas, or snuggle up with pistachio pudding, or even set a date for a decadent tiramisu, they turn around and punch me in the gut. Literally. It’s enough to make me want to cry (also literally, I’ll admit…).

So please, do tell, where is this awkward subject going in regards to faith?

Product Review: Nubian Heritage African Black Soap

A few years ago I had heard quite a bit about African black soap, mainly in the African American hair communities. Didn’t think too much about it until I saw it at a hair store while visiting family on the Mainland (Mainland = Continental US, lol). It was only $2, so I figure I would try it, and oh my, was I glad I did! It smells wonderful, it feels soft, it cleared my acne prone face, and the scars I had due to acne completely disappeared. No joke.

Push Beyond the Push!

Sometimes life’s challenges can be so tough, it feels like climbing a steep mountain with weights chained to your ankles. Even though you’re moving forward, you feel like you’re not getting anywhere–and quite frankly, you’re tired! But don’t let that discourage you. And above all, never give up!

That is what I’ve had to say to encourage myself lately. Often times the only person you have to encourage you is you. As one of the Mothers at my church would say, “Sometimes you gotta push beyond the push.” Which means, even when it seems there is no end, or that you can’t go on anymore–Keep pushing your way through. Because in the end, it will be worth it. In the end, you’ll be able to say, “I made it!” In the end, you will have that amazing story of how you survived the experience of X, Y, and Z and you’ll be able to encourage and inspire others to push beyond the push too!

Something to Chew On

“You can’t cross a sea by merely staring into the water.”
– Rabindranath Tagore

“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.”
– Martin Luther King Jr.

“Come to the edge,” he said.
“We can’t, we are afraid!” they replied.
“Come to the edge,” he said.
“We can’t, we will fall!” they replied.
“Come to the edge,” he said.
And so they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew.
– Christopher Logue

So simple, yet so thought provoking.
